caribbeandreaming Posted June 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2006 We have been scanning carnival's web site on shore excursions. They state that "the price may vary depending on the departure time". This may sound dumb....but what does that mean? The departure time of the ship...say october vs. april? time of the day? day of the week? How much of a jump is it? $10.00 or more higher than what is listed on the web site??? We travel in Ocotber so any advice would be great. Any reliable tour guides outside of carnival? our stops are: grand cayman, belize, ilsa roatan, costa maya. This is one confused cruiser :p :o
cruisevers Posted June 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2006 I have seen that too but never have seen any variance in price from web or on the ship. Could be for some cruises with say an afternoon or an evening excursion there could be a difference but most cruises are in port during the daytime. Europe being one of the only exceptions I know of. We have been to the Carribean, Mexico and Alaska and have noticed no differences. We have used independents too and have gotten better prices and better tours than the ship offered in all cases. Check the "Ports" board for each of your stops and you will find reccomendations there for tour companies.
NRWO Posted June 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2006 You'd only see a difference on board if between the time you shopped them online and then got to the ship if the tour company altered their rates and so then Carnival also did accordingly. In most cases, this would be an increase in price. Therefore I'd say it's best to book in advance. Not to mention some tours will sell out before embarkation.
