mert461 Posted July 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2004 We're sailing on Monday (7/5) Enchantment of the Seas to Cozumel and Belize. The weather is looking like thunderstorms at every port. I'm really bummed. Does the ship try to bypass the storms? We have a snorkeling trip in Belize with Coral Breezes. Do they still snorkel if it's raining? How about scuba diving with Eagle Ray? Anyone have this happen? Thanks! Donna
yarlenna Posted July 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2004 Don't sweat it. You can't do anything about the weather. Summer is the rainy season in most of the Caribbean and Atlantic tropics. (AKA hurricane season.) Most of the time, the thunderstorms build every afternoon - storm for a couple of hours then fade out. If it is a major storm, the ship will try to bypass the area. BUT there is no way to avoid all the little afternoon thundershowers in that part of the world. Besides, when you are over the water, you are in the part of the world where these storms are born. Do be careful. Do not risk your life for a swim. If you can hear thunder/see lightning - get out of the water. Enjoy your cruise. Don't let anything bum you out. dtm09 Posted July 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2004 Another thing to think about. Predicting the weather is a crapshoot, especially more than a week away. On the Rhapsody last week when the Captain gave his noon report each day, he said that there were storms expected for the following days in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We didn't get a drop of rain either day.
