UK Train Strikes (perhaps)

Well this was going to be a warning about train strikes in the UK for anyone travelling to Southampton, but as I went to get the link to the website the headline was that the first one was was called off.

 

However, they have no details yet (the original don't travel info is still showing:confused: )

And as it involves at least 2 different unions for 2 different reasons heres the info.

 

21st-22nd July (Union 1 - now suspended)

27th-29th July (Union 1 - suspended)

28th,31 July (a different union - so considerate to pick the same day!)

11th,14 Aug (Union 2 (Won't affect me - I'm on the QE2:D )

 

I use http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/SWTrains

 

The front screen has a scrolling news panel - wait for the a strike item to come up & click on it. (Also accessible through menu about us\news)

I am sure other train companies have similar news pages

 

The original advice was "Southwest Trains (London Waterloo to Southampton) are running a skeleton service for the 21st-22nd strikes - London Southampton trains ARE running but at reduced frequency & are expected to be crowded. Don't travel unless you have to"

 

Hopefully the rest of the strikes will be called off.

It's going to be a pain getting to work! :mad:

All the strikes mentioned above have now been suspended.

The first union has had a new offer so need to ballot its members on acceptance - hopefully this will mean this dispute is over.:)

The second had queries about the legality of the ballot for the strike - this probably means they will re-ballot and the strikes will be rescheduled:(
