Adventure of the Seas - Southern Caribbean

We are thinking of taking this cruise next July. However, I was a little skeptical, as we did Freedom this year and I just don't want to be disappointed (although I've been on Explorer twice). I take it from your review, that you would certainly recommend Adventure? Did it look "run-down" at all?

If you are going to compare the Freedom ship to the AOS , it will look runned down . The AOS is still in very good shape. A beautiful ship and a lot of fun. I have not gone on the Freedom yet, but I prefer the Voyager class ships out of all of the ships I have cruised on. I always feel the bigger the ship the less personal attention you receive. The AOS has similarity to the Freedom ship with the Promenade, Johnny Rockets etc but not as big and as new! I'm sure you will find it a Great Cruise, I know I did!

Can you please tell me what you can about the "walks" off the ship onto the docks in Aruba and Curacao? Are they pretty short or long? Are there little shuttles which drive you to and from the ship liike in Nassau and St. Thomas? I have trouble walking distances.

You are very near the center of town when you dock in Aruba. Shops, restaurants and casinos are all very close. Enjoy your cruise.

Zinman,

Can you tell me in your opinion which side of the ship would be the best to be on. We are booked on the right (starboard) side now, but have a chance to still change it to the other side. We have a balcony and enjoy

watching people coming and going off the ship and seeing all the buildings

in port. So, inother words, the side facing everything that is going on.

Thanks,

I just got back on Sunday 9/3/06. I had a balcony room on the starboard side. When in port we were facing the water except in St. Maarten, so I would suggest booking a cabin on the portside. However, I once heard that your view depends on how the ship enters the port. Supposely the ship sometimes enters facing forward and sometimes facing backwards I don't know how true this is.

I just got off the AOS 8/27 and I'm a little surprised at this statement. I didn't see anywhere on this ship that it looked "a little runned down". I would not use that description for anywhere on the ship, as I think everything looked great. I actually have no interest in the FOS given the size. Personally I think there is such thing as too big. AOS was pushing the limits given the crowds in the buffet area and pool. Otherwise the ship was great and really very tasteful.

The ports were wonderful and very easy to navigate. We had no excursions scheduled (except Zipline in St Martin) and just took cabs or ferries from every port to whatever we wanted to do.

We were port side balcony and except for St Martin were we viewed the cargo crates, we had great views. Plus they fueled in St Martin from the port side so there was no smoking on the balconies permitted while in port.
