Boston: From Pier to Trolley Pickup

What is the best way for 3 adults to get from the pier at Black Falcon to catch one of the on/off trolleys? The more maps I look at the more confused I get. We were looking at the Old Town Trolley and I could not even figure out where the closest stop to the pier was! Help!

We made the mistake of walking from ship to Old town trolley. Not a pedestrian friendly walk. Check out google maps! It doesnt look too bad on a map, but beleive me it is. We had to take a cab half way back. Our feet were screaming! ( we are quite used to exercise and walking)

In answer to you question: I beleive you can take silver line bus route 2 or 3. check out www.mbta.com We are going again this yr and I plan to take bus to connect to other mass transit lines. Worst case, we may try to share a taxi.

My DH and I have been researching this question all afternoon. BTW, we are checking on the Beantown Trolley. We have concluded that probably the most efficient (although probably not the cheapest) way is to take the ship's shuttle to Faneuil Hall where you can pick up the Beantown Trolley. You can buy tickets there. I don't know how much the shuttle costs nor do I know if all the cruise lines offer one.

Does anyone know the difference between the Old Town Trolley and the Beantown Trolley? BT is a Grayline company and includes a harbor cruise. This seems to be the main difference that I can find.

I think you are right. Here is what I found via the Massport site:

Black Falcon Transportation

Cruiseport Boston, operating at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in the South Boston Waterfront District, is one of the most popular cruise ports in North America for a very good reason – its proximity to the City of Boston. To help passengers make the most of their Port of Call, a first class, round-trip shuttle is now in operation to get you where you're going safely, efficiently, and comfortably.

Operated by Brush Hill / Gray Line / Beantown Trolley, the shuttle offers transportation on Port of Call days to some of Boston’s best destinations, such as: the New England Aquarium, located on Central Wharf on Boston’s vibrant Waterfront; Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the seat of American history and the site of one of America's most famous shopping and dining experiences and Copley Square, home to Trinity Church, the elegant and upscale Copley Place Mall; and adjacent to trendy Newbury Street.

Shuttles depart every 15 minutes from the Cruise Terminal on Port of Call days, approximately from the time passengers are first allowed to leave their vessel, until the time advertised by the vessel as the last opportunity to re-board.

FARE SCHEDULE FOR TROLLEY SHUTTLE: April through August:$8.00 one way$12.00 round tripSeptember & October:$10.00 one way$15.00 round trip

** Tickets and information is available within the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. Brush Hill / Gray Line / Beantown Trolley personnel will be on site to assist all passengers and will provide escort to Trolleys and Coaches.
