Back from The Mariner Sept 3rd-Sept10th

Recommended Posts

Sun Sept 3rd- Boarding went pretty smooth just make sure you have all your things filled out or your pulled out of line to correct em.

Well we sailed around 5:10pm and decided to watch from the top in front of the helicopter pad. Had a blast watching all the other ships pull out ahead of us and just watching the people around us.

That eve the 4 of us just became acqainted with the ship and took all in and realized "We are on Vacation"

Visit to the deli was good as usual, just noticed the ice cream machine had been moved to the pool side deck.

Then off to our Muster drill...I like being inside alot better and that all went great. We turned in early that eve to prepare for Cocokay.

Coco-kay- Well it sucked.....Rain, rain rain and those prices were outrageous in the shops. The food , well it was ok the ribs were tough and just a plain ole buffet.

St.Thomas- This island rocks, we headed over to St.John's island to snorkel on our own. Let's just say that taking taxi's over there cost us 100.00, I will book an excursion next time. We snorkeld at Trunk Bay, Oh my gosh this was so beautiful and I loved how they have an underwater map to follow and show you what you are looking at. I recommend this place to all..A++

Getting back on the ship this thunderstorm came out of no-where, knocked all power out to the island and just lighting and thundered.

Dinner in sound of music- I was very very disappointed in the food. Our service sucked and our head waiter failed in providing us flourless choc cake. All the food seemed so bland, we did have shrimp cocktail everynight but over all I am giving the food and service a C-.

St. Marteen- Had a blast here, got suckered into going to a time share meeting and ended up buying one. Yippie!!! We also were given $60 to shop at the Shipwreck store and bought alot of gifts there. Mostly shopped, but wow is the water so beautiful there. B+

I do have to mention "new friends" Colby and Tami got a bad deal on an excursion they took on their own. They were jet skiing and the person in charge left them on a island for over an hour and thank god a person in their group told someone to go out and get them, Colby was very sun burned and more less just ticked. These people were great, sharing their stories about the New Orleans flood and their lives. I wanna go in Feb w/ you guys and cruise.

While eating dinner one night, a gentlemen came over to our table "Ray" I think was his name and ask me to tell of something that happened and for the life of me cannot remember so help me out if you read this.

Head Waiter - F

Pool games _ I hated that they had nothing for the ladies to compete in it was all the guys, so they really need to work on this or include the ladies in on the activities. This recieved a C+..

Cabin steward - Ours was let's just say ok, Tami and Colby's, well they caught him w/ their door shut and out on the balcony on the cell phone. Not happy about this at all......D+

Casino - We all did great at the black jack table all tho I do have to say one dealer not once but 3 times took $$ and people caught him and said we beat yours or was a push. So watch this ok? B+

I have lot's of pic and any other question's just ask, as far as going back on this ship, I don't think so. Service, Cleaniness, and food all need improving.

Wow - we were on Mariner 3 weeks ago and found the food to be surprisingly excellent and the service to be stellar. Having a good wait team can really make a difference in one's cruise experience, and ours was awesome!!!
