Katmai

We are leaving for Katmai next week. Has anyone been there yet this year? How are bugs? We will continue on to PWS and Kenai following Katmai. That will be the highlight, I'm sure.

I have not been however my neighbor grew up in Alaska and moved to North Carolina about four years ago. He has said if he had one choice he would go back to Katmai. He also said one should take plenty of deet during the summer.

Deet, or Bounce dryer sheets which accomplishes the same thing.

Bounce? What a great idea! At least it will smell better. But we have lots of DEET, too. I'm told there are lots of bears and salmon running so it should be an adventure.
