Snorkeling/Nassau-Freeport non excursion

What's the best place to snorkel in Nassau and/or Freeport. I just want to catch a cab at the pier and head off for a few hours on my own. I have all my own equipment.

We just returned from a land vacation to Freeport and by the best snorkeling by far was Paradise Cove Beach Resort. It's near deadmans reef. It's $3 to get in and that's all you pay if you have your own equipment. They have a grill and bar right there. Also beach chairs and umbrellas to rent. Chairs are $2.00 each. I'm pretty sure they have a website but I don't remember it.
