New to HAL questions

My family and I(we range in age from 2- 65) Are considering a cruise on the Amsterdam in May. It is only a three day thing ( I'm not sure of the ports of call) but we have been on RCCL and Carnival on the bigger ships. What can you tell me about your experince with the HAL line and this ship. Is there a Lobster night( DH is from Nova Scotia and can't get enough of the stuff, he set a record for Carnival last year of 17 tails)Is there a formal night? What is there to do for the kids?Any other information would also be appreciated..

Are you doing just a part of a longer cruise? On a 7 to 10 day cruise there will usually be 2 formal nights, the second of which is a lobster night. So, if you're on the first 3 days of 7 or 10 you may not hit the formal/lobster night.

 

And the Amsterdam is a very nice ship! :) For kids there is Club HAL with age-appropriate activites, plus The Loft and a video arcade.

I talk to the TA and she said it was just a short 3 day crusie from LA to Vancouver. All the days are at seas.I don't know if that is a good thing or not but it makes things alot less complicated as far as excursions go.Is ther alot for younger people to do. our are really well be haved as compared to some of the nightmares I have read on the boards about kids on cruise ships!I don't jhust want our wondering around with nothing to do then they get into trouble and that is not acceptable to us.

May 14 - 17, 2007 would be the tail end of a repositioning cruise prior to the summer Alaska season ... and I'm sorry, but I don't know how the formal nights occur on such cruises.

 

I wouldn't worry about your kids not finding enough to do, between Club HAL, the video arcade, and the assorted sports and games that go on during sea days. :)
