I just recently made a reservation for the motorcycle cruise in March. My husband and are are going to Daytona for Bike Week and then we will go down to Miami to catch the ship. This will be my husbands 1st cruise, but I have been on a few other cruises. We are both looking forward to this vacation, it is very cool at we can take our bike onboard. Just wondering if anyone else out there will be on March 10th cruise.

Hi Larry and Kathy,

We were planning on taking the cruise out of NJ in May, but when my husband called worked to schedule his vacation, they told him that he could not have that date...so we asked for the next date out of NJ and they again told him that he could not go that date. I was so disappointed as we were both really looking forward to this cruise. So my husband said, let just go to Daytona again for bike week. After he scheduled that week at work, they asked him, "what do you want to do for your second week of vacation?" He did not know that in 2007 he would get 2 weeks. So i got on the computer real quick and saw there we could get the cruise out of Miami the following weekend...he asked for the 2 weeks and it was approved. I called the next day and made our reservations for the ship and to have our Harley transported to Florida. I work in the Boston area, and live in CT. Are your friends in the Boston area still going on March 10th?

I have a question about the dining room. My husband is not a suit guy, but he will bring one for the 2 formal nights. The only reason he even has a suit is that we were married a year ago. :) Can he wear jeans on all the other nights? He does not own a regular pair of slacks. Oh, one more thing, do you have photos anyway on the net of your vacation? Thanks, Arlene

the wife and I are going on the 2/10/07 Harley Cruise. I need some information from someone who has gone on one of these cruises. 1. Can you park an SUV with a trailer at or near the port? 2. How much is parking and are you gouged for parking a trailer? 3. Does anyone have directions on how to get to the port? 4. What kind of hoops do you have to jump through to get into the secured area?

Anyone with any insight would be greatly appreciated. 40 days and counting.

Hey everyone! Sorry we have'nt posted the info. We are trying to recover from the holidays. Kat will post the details but they only allow 32 bikes max. Getting through homeland security was a little long at miami. About 4HRS but i think it's alot better now. You have all access to the bikes, anytime day or night. The ship really did'nt move at all, so most of the time we just left them on the kickstand. We live in New Jersey so when we went I had a bike rentel delivered to the port. It was better than trailering down. Kat and I both have bikes but after the cruise we went and bought an ultra classic. This way we could ride together. If your bike does'nt have bags you should bring a back pack for carrying bathing suits, sun block, towels etc. You will be stopping to swim, snorkel or just hang out. Having storage was a plus. As far as parking, friends of ours will be on this cruise also. they trailered down the last time so they will have info. I will call them and ask them to post here. Hope this helps you out. You are going to have a GREAT TIME!!! Larry:)

Hi Guys,

Sorry it took me so long to get around to posting here. I'll try to answer as many questions as I can. I'm going to e-mail our friends from Boston who joined us on our first motorcycle cruise, and ask them to work their way over to this thread, as well, so they can give you better information about the trailer questions. We rented a bike through the travel agent, so, I can't help you out in that regard.

ANYWAY...........You will truly enjoy yourselves on this trip. It's a fun, unique vacation and for bikers........an awesome way to see the islands!!!!! Like my DH, Larry, mentioned earlier; we were orginially booked on this cruise, but when we saw the 5/11/07 cruise was leaving out of Bayonne, it didn't make much sense to travel down to Miami to take this biker cruise when the ship is about 25 minutes from our house in New Jersey. PLUS.........We'll be visiting Bermuda (which is awesome) and it's a longer cruise!!!

PARROTPLAY..........As far as the dining room goes, your hubby will definitely need a suit for the formal nights. On the other evenings, he can wear Dockers style pants in the dining room, but they won't allow jeans. I have seen people wearing them on past cruises and sometimes I've seen them be asked to leave the dining room and other times it's gone unaddressed. So, I guess you can take the chance, but you'll run the risk of being asked to leave. Keep in mind, you don't HAVE to eat in the dining room every night. But, it's nice to. The motorcyle "gang" are all seated together in the dining room, as it's a group theme cruise. By the first or second day people have pretty much bonded with other passengers in the group and you can sit with those individuals. Just talk to the head waiter and I'm sure they can arrange the tables accordingly. We met 3 other couples on our last motorcycle cruise who we really hit it off with (we are still friends today!!!) and we had a table of 8, so it worked out great.

DATACACHE..........as I stated earlier, I am going to e-mail one of our friends who brought their bikes down by trailer (from the Boston area) on our last motorcylce cruise. I'm sure he can better answer your questions.

I can't think of anything else to say other than you're going to have a BLAST! We've cruised many times and this was truly one of the best vacations we were ever on. The riding........the sites.........the beaches........THE BARS.....the people........we just had so much fun. I can't wait to go on our next one in May!!!!!!

If you have any other thoughts or questions, as away and I'll make sure to check back so I can answer you.

Take it easy!!

Kathy

I am one of the friends from Mass. We are also on the 3/10 cruise along with 2 other couples that along with Larry and Kathy took the harley cruise before.

Dining room will not allow blue jeans for the evening meal. Formal nights we did wear suits or sport coats.

At the port of Miami (can get exact charges online) pleanty of room for suv and trailer parking. I think the coat was supposed to be $168.00 for car and trailer for the week but when we went there was no attendant at the lot so everyone parked for free that week. If I am right it was lot D. We are going back for the 3/10 cruise.

Hello there fellow bikers! My fiance and I will also be on the 2/10 navigator Cruise. We are trailering our motorcycles down from MA. I call the port and was told I would have to pay for two parking spots, one for our truck, and one for our trailer which is 14ft @ $15 per day.

We are leaving on 2/7 to make sure we get to Mimai on Friday as we need to be at the port at 8:30am.

Hi LM81

I just went to the Port of Miami website and it says that rates will vary for a oversized vehicle, camper or trailer. I copied the below from their website. My husband and I will also have a truck with a trailer and we are leaving from CT. We leave March 2nd or 3rd and will stay in Daytona Beach for bike week for the week, and then we will travel down towards Miami on Friday. Where is everyone staying Friday night?

Parking:

Parking is available in facilities located in front of individual cruise terminals. No reservations are required to park at the Port of Miami. Long-term parking for a regular vehicle occupying a single space is $15.00 per day. Short-term parking for a vehicle occupying a single space is $5.00. Rates will vary for larger vehicles (ie., oversized vans, recreational vehicles and vehicles with trailers). Customers sailing out of Terminals F, G and J can use either cash or credit (Visa or MasterCard only). The parking facility in front of Terminal B, C and 10 is currently cash only.

Just a few observations for those going on the motorcycle cruise, we just returned from the 2/10 cruise.

The ride in San Juan is not for the faint of heart. There were no escorts other than the lead Jeep with Steve and his video camera and the chase truck, which was the fuel truck. There was no one blocking the side streets and helping the group cross multiple lanes of traffic. Picture driving in Miami during rush hour. We rode out into the 'country' to a beach bar/restaurant which you need to be very careful driving into, the driveay is gravel and extremely washed out. We didn't get to stop at the fort, which was a disappointment, we did a slow drive through downtown, up an extremely steep include then back down on a brick paved road (1st bike down), to end up by the dock at the Harley accessory shop (no motorcycles).

St. Thomas was, probably, the best ride of the week. This ride is not for the beginner as St. Thomas is every hilly, but very beautiful. We got great pictures and video from my rider. Our first stop once we got fuel (be careful when fueling, you fuel up on an incline) was Megen's Bay, nice beach, beautiful water, but stayed just long enough to grab a few drinks and take pictures with a bride and groom whose wedding we rode past. From there we went to Mountaintop. As you can imagine, more hills and switchbacks (2nd bike down). At the top there is a beautiful overlook that is above Megen's Bay. I wish my camera could take panoramic pictures as the pictures I have, while beautiful, does not do the tremendous views justice. Leaving there we went down the hill to make the turn around to head to the resort by the airport (3rd bike down plus a broken drive belt). The resort was nice (Can't remember the name), we hit the pool and the beach. Food service was almost comically slow, food was ok. Stayed there for about 2 hours. Left there and rode back towards the ship. We stopped at the Harley merchandise shop for about an hour. Left the shop and rode through slow traffic again (a few bikes actually overheated) back to the boat to do some shopping. Steve's jewlery shop was where we stopped (imagine that).

St. Marteen was a close second for the favorite ride. Once getting fuel, we rode to the Harley dealership, now this was a real dealership, with motorcyles, we spent about an hour here. We left the dealership and the Dutch side of the island and rode to a scenic overlook where we took more pictures, Steve yelled at some locals. We left there and rode out to Wikiki Beach for an over priced lunch ($30 per person). We got to park out on the beach, see some topless sunbathing women (some needed to put their tops back on), get our pictures taken ($20 for a CD of the pictures). Leaving the beach after about 2 - 2-1/2 hours we rode to the boardwalk shopping area. We rode about a mile downtown, creeping, again a few motorcycles overheated (in my opinion, this was unnecessary), several people were upset by this, the road was one lane wide, short of terrorizing the tourists, this was lame. We shopped for about an hour then headed back to the ship. This is where the story takes a turn for the worse. One of the riders was accused by a local of doing a 'burnout' downtown on the boardwalk and was fined $500.00US, this is where any respect anyone had for Steve was lost. The way he handled this was extremely bad and the profanity laced tyrades from the accused, other riders and Steve were the talk of the ship by other cruisers not with our group. Steve threatened us with sailing off without loading ANY motorcycle. It was several of our opinions, and I stress OPINIONS, that it was a combined effort between the locals and Steve to extort $500.00 for leaving the island as no one from our group witnessed the alledged occurance.

Other than that, the ship was magnificent, the food was incredible, the service was outstanding. A ship with an ice skating rink, WOW. It was definately VIP treatment. We were the first off the boat every day including checking out. We were brought to the front of the line to clear customs and immigration before anyone else.

Take Steve with a grain of salt and don't put too much credence into what he says. He "forgot" our t-shirts and assured us that they would be to our house when we got home, well I'm home and don't have any additional t-shirts than what I came home with. DON'T, DON'T, DON'T squeal your tires, it can be very VERY expensive. Always have a witness for the accused. Enjoy the rides!!

I have been on a harley cruise already and had a great time. From what you are saying I'm freaking out about this trip. We did'nt have any of the issues that you experienced and I hope we don't. I'm hoping the more they do these trips they still put the same effort into getting it right so a good time is had by all. I also think as far as the riders go, leave the additudes at home. It's a vacation, have fun.:)

Kat, Larry, Cathy, Ed, Paul, Dottie - HELLO!!!

I just finished reading all the posts. The 2/10 cruise sounds like it didn't go very well.

We had several inexprienced female riders (and they handled it) on our cruise and if the terrain was to rough and the rider didn't think they could handle it you just had to ask for help, there were people to take over the bike for you or to help in a bad spot. It rained on our day in San Juan, so we were just disappointed because of that. We had police escorts.

St. Thomas - great ride, good food, got to enjoy the beach.

St. Marteen - OMG - THE BEST!!! The Caribbean Eagles escorted us with police joining us at the beach & doing burn outs!!!

We had bikes go down, but bikes go down anywhere. I don't think I read anywhere that it was a guarantee that one would or wouldn't. No one was hurt and those that didn't want to take a bike out on a certain day didn't have to.

The parking at the port was supposed to be about 125.00 I think.... The wait to board was a long one but customs didn't help in that area. I myself got to know several of the non riding wifes while waiting and still keep in touch with them.

We had a few riders who had a style of riding that wasn't appreciated by most of the other riders and it was taken care of immediately. We love to ride...safely.

To say our cruise went perfectly - what is perfect & what is a disaster???

We got all of our stuff (shirts late) and CD, AND ARE returning for a second one because the fun that was had and the memories that were made.....that has to say something!

I could go on & on.....we are so looking forward to cruising again and meeting up with (UMMMM) two of the couples, Kat & Larry - YOU ARE MISSING OUT!! :)

Jody (my other half is Gregg)

We had NO police escorts in San Juan, that is where the trouble started. The group got split up in heavy traffic where we had to cut across 4 lanes of traffic, this is where a few people came unglued with Steve.

As far as riding into the rain forest, we went into what I would call 'the country', not really what I would refer to as a rainforest, for about 10 minutes before we turned around and went back to the bar on the beach.

The people who dropped their bikes were mainly from lack of experience. From what I can remember, all the bikes that went down were on turns. I think the same lady went down twice. She had a lowered harley and in a tight turn on hills, she caught the pipes and the bike slid out from under her.

We finally got our shirts last week. The Tuesday after we got back from the cruise.

I'm not saying we didn't have an absolute blast, just there were serveral people in our group that were upset, one was theatening to make an official complaint to Royal Caribbean and was soliciting others in the group and passing out RCI's email, fax number and mailing address. We would definately go again, as would the other 4 couples we were with. We made some great friendships and the boat itself was fantastic.

We have already begun planning for the next cruise. It sounds like we are going on the Ft Lauderdale/Bermuda/Nassau cruise next year.
