fun2cruise Posted January 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2007 We are going on a cruise and have been looking at excursions. We really just want to go to the beach for the afternoon. We are thinking of getting a taxi, but now sure, has anyone done this and what beach would be the best. Hate to go out on our own, don't want to miss the ship. Perki Posted January 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2007 We are coming up on our 10th cruise and all but the 1st two we have always done our own thing vs purchasing cruiseline tours. First we don't like the huge mass of humanity that usually makes up the cruiseline tours, the ones we have found at each port are usually no more than say 10people - much more fun and itimate I think. That being said we always allow plenty of time with our taxi driver to make it back to the ship, say picking us up no later than 3pm to make it back by 4:30/5:00 sailaway. As long as you set this up you should have no issues at all about missing the ship and be able to enjoy your day at the beach. Good thing about most islands, they really rely on tourist dollars so when ask them to meet you for the return taxi back to the ship they never miss - or they will tell you it is easy to get one at one of the hotels on the beach you are visiting, etc. Have Fun!
