busblb Posted January 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2007 We are booked on the Pride of Hawaii with a sailing date of 4/2/2007. We booked a Courtyard Villa Suite. Does anyone know if the concierge lounge is really available? We've heard various stories, including one that the advertised lounge was converted to a suite. Any specific comments on the ship and the dining options? We normally buy our land tours from people selling near the dock rather than booking through the cruise lines. Is this smart on this sailing? How good is the butler service?
beachchick Posted January 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2007 Yes, the lounge shown in the original deck plans is now a special owner's suite. The concierge lounge as such is actually the Star Bar. During the day, it functions as a concierge lounge and at night it functions as the Star Bar open to everyone. This is also the entry into the satellite section of Cagney's where breakfast and lunch are served for full suite guests (penthouse and above) only (no guests). Although the Star Bar functions as a concierge lounge part time, it doesn't have complimentary alcoholic drinks (except a couple times and that may vary from cruise to cruise). There have been numerous threads about PoH lately, including info on tours (no, there aren't tons of operators lined up at the piers like some other ports; except Hilo, there were many). The ship and cruise in general, as well as dining have also been discussed at length in several of the current reviews. If you do an advanced search on this forum only for "pride of hawaii review" or "pride of hawaii dining" or restuarants, you should get a bunch of current information. You can also try "poh" instead of "pride of hawaii." beachchick
