Preds Posted January 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2007 Thanks! Making rental car plans and wasn't sure what to show for return time. If you're booking car rentals, seriously look into http://discounthawaiicarrental.com and use their corporate rate. For cruise port rentals, follow the instructions on this page: http://discounthawaiicarrental.com/cruiseshipreservation.htm They have great deals (mostly through Thrifty), far better than any others I could find for my upcoming April cruise on the POH. Also, sign up for Thriftyy's Blue Chip Frequent Renter program (it's free). It'll allow you to bypass the regular lines and use the preferred Blue Chip only line at the rental agencies. It also expedites picking up the car since they'll already have your license info, preferences, and whatnot.
wmp2304 Posted January 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2007 Used http://discounthawaiicarrental.com/ for Holiday sailing on PoH and signed up for Thrifty BlueChip. Awesome service, helpful shuttle drivers, and on-the-spot service instead of waiting behind a shuttle full of fellow cruisers. A couple of signatures and we were rolling, while the rest were still getting out of the shuttle.
Browezilla Posted January 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2007 1 hour prior to sailing. An hour, really? Most other ships it's 1/2 hr.
bambi66 Posted January 18, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2007 Just back from POH on 1/15/07. Went with a group of 6. My husband and I (age 40 and 43) ended up renting mopeds in Kona and Kauai (walking distance from pier). While the rest of the group relaxed on the ship. We had a blast and in 2-3 hours you can see some of the Island and not have to deal with getting a shuttle to a rental car agency. I can't remember the name of the places that rented them but you can't miss them. In Kona get off the ship earlier than 10:00 am as the mopeds are a hot commodity and you have to be put on a waiting list. Have fun!! We loved the cruise!
