Statendam-Asia Cruise March 2007

I will be sailing on the Statendam 22 March, Asia itinerary. Can anyone provide feedback on the ship, condition, etc? Also, any comments on this particular cruise? Thank you.

We sailed the Statendam from San Diago, Ca to Auckland, NZ (34 days) in December 2005. It was a great ship with a really great crew. We will also be on the March 22 Hong Kong to Osaka cruise, which we are doing back to back with the Sydney to Hong Kong cruise, and are really looking forward to it. You might want to check the roll calls for these two cruises on these boards.

My wife and I (and our two best friends) are on this same sailing. We love luxury accommodations and were nervous to book this ship due to its age. A few months ago, we received a number of positive responses about the Statendam here on CruiseCritic. It sounds like the ship is neat, clean, and upscale - but without all of the bells and whistles that are present on new ships.

 

We are currently booked in an Oceanview, but are hoping for a Verandah upgrade. There have been numerous deals posted for this sailing which makes me think there are many available cabins.

 

Looking forward to hearing more feedback from recent cruises on this ship.
