Whittier/Alyeska Tours?

In June there will be 8 of us getting off the Coral in Whittier. We have rented 2 SUV's and are looking for somthing exciting and fun to do all day as our plane does not leave Anchorage until 1:00am. We would be up for anything on the water, ATV's or flightseeing. Should we go do the Portage Glacier Cruise or to the Alyeska Lodge for lunch? Anyone had this situation? We've already been all over Anchorage twice before, and really aren't shoppers and we would like to spend those last hours doing something fun and exciting.

With your transportation, I would not be spending the time on a Portage Glacier cruise, IF glacier cruising is of priority- then go out of Whittier and take the train to Anchorage- canceling the cars.

 

With the cars I would head north to Hatcher Pass, spectacular scenery and an easy drive, along the way, stop perhaps and take the Eklutna Spirit House tour, Eagle River Nature Center, Musk Ox farm??? You can be back in Anchorage late afternoon- if you get out the 9am tunnel, and see some of downtown. Have a late dinner and allow a 2 hour window for your flight.

 

Spend some time along the Arm, and a stop at the Portage Glacier visitor center is worthwhile. Alyeska is very "resort". Determine if the tram is of interest?? Scenery is everywhere on the ground too, in this area. :)
