Bringing bottled water on board

Since we are doing day excursions on our own, we thought we would bring an insulated bag along for bottled water. Does anyone know if we can bring our own water or soda on board the ship in our luggage? It would be nice to just be able to pack a beach bag, some drinks, and be off instead of having to stop each day.

We didn't pack water or sodas initially, but were totally able to pick it up as needed in any port (that's where the WalMart DID come in handy!). They don't blink at all as you get back on the ship - seems pretty darn common, actually.

Have fun!

No problem carrying our case of Coke on board the NCL Wind at Hilo. Alcohol is not allowed, Water and soft drinks are. We also bought Gatoraide, which is appreciated after a day in the sun.

We had a case of water and it worked out perfectly to take some of the water out and slip a 12-pack Coke carton right beside it, inside the plastic. Our porter just stapled one of our luggage tags on it and loaded it with the rest of our bags.

Also, as mentioned, there are plenty of places to buy water during the cruise (especially if you have a rental car) so don't take up a lot of cabin space trying to stock up beforehand.

There was a new story on the home page of cruise critic that said Carnival has developed a policy that no water is allowed. This is also another thread someone here talking about that. We have always had water to take on shore and with excursions with us without having the epensive ship bottled water.

This is the official quote from NCL Web Page FAQ's

What can't I bring onboard?

Passenger is not allowed to bring on board the vessel without the previous written permission of the Carrier any intoxicating liquors, or beverages, firearms, weapons of any kind, ammunition, explosive substances or any goods of a dangerous nature, nor animals of any kind, except service or guide animals, provided the passenger notifies Carrier prior to the cruise of his intention to bring such animal and agrees to take sole responsibility for any expense, damage, injuries or losses associated with or caused by such animal.

LOOKS LIKE SODA AND H2O ARE IN THE CLEAR !!!!!:p
