VickiVSN Posted August 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2004 We have a one night pre-cruise stay in San Diego at the Holiday Inn Harbor View. My brother will be coming for the day to visit with us AND my husband will be meeting his sister face-to-face for the first time (separated by adoption, found family several years ago, the only sister he has not met in person yet). Any ideas for our little family reunion dinner? Thanks!
jimcat Posted August 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2004 the chart house in shelter island was one of our favorites.. especially the mud pie desserts I think they are still there :)
triplelutz Posted August 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2004 There's an Anthony's right across the street from the hotel. They have a pricier restaraunt attached. There are some nice places in Seaport Village or The Fish Market - all within walking distance.

Splinter Posted August 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2004 I could recommend any of the following all of which have wonderful harbor views: Right across the street: Anthony's Fish Grotto (family type, seafood only, no reservations, sometimes a long wait) http://www.gofishanthonys.com/locations/1fs.htm Anthony's Star of the Sea Room (elegant, expensive, wonderful food, reservations, dress code) http://www.starofthesea.com/ About 4 blocks south: The Fish Market. Less expensive downstairs, more elegant upstairs. http://www.thefishmarket.com/san_diego.htm A little further away, in Little Italy (about 8 blocks): The Indigo Grill (southwest food, wonderful presentation, large portions): http://www.cohnrestaurants.com/cohn/cohnrestaurants/index.html If you prefer more casual (and downright funky) you could also do the Kansas City Barbecue (featured in the movie "Top Gun") which is about 2 blocks south and 1 block east of the hotel: http://entertainment.signonsandiego.com/profile/87367/ You can also very easily take the San Diego Trolley (light rail) from either the Sante Fe train station or the County Admin center stop and go to Old Town (San Diego's birthplace) and have excellent Mexican food. I would recommend one of the following: Old Town Mexican Cafe: (yummy carnitas): http://www.oldtownmexcafe.com/ Casa de Bandini (indoors and outdoors, HUGE margaritas, strolling mariaches) http://www.bazaardelmundo.com/dining/bandini.html Casa de Pico (indoors and outdoors): http://www.bazaardelmundo.com/dining/pico.html
jimcat Posted August 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2004 HI again.. the chart house in shelter may be closed Peohe's is open seven days a week, serving lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Reservations are accepted for parties of one to five hundred, and special menu packages are available for groups of fifteen and more. With a state-of-the-art boat dock and plenty of free parking, Peohe's is easily accessible by land or water - Just a five-minute trip from downtown via private yacht or water taxi, and a 10-minute automobile ride over the Coronado Bay Bridge but ths is one of their other ventures http://www.peohes.com/home.html
chefajax Posted August 16, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2004 If you like Italian, then go to India St., take the trolley, its easy to get around. Once there, you pretty much can't go wrong. Vincenzo's is my favorite. I love the Mixed Seafood and Saffron Risotto Dish :)...Dennis
