Over spending

Maybe a stupid question but here goes. If you deposit cash and don't spend it all they do give you back the balance, correct?

Not stupid, I asked the same thing myself. If you use cash or Travelers Checks and don't utilize it all...you get a check from Carnival attached to you bill on the last night! I think I might have heard that you can then take that check and cash it at the pursers office before you leave the ship that last day?!?
