Jo42 Posted May 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2007 From the Cruise Critic Website: "the nicest beach is in Agios Andhreas, a $10 cab ride away" Try this link too http://cs.cruisebase.com/le5/Default.aspx?MainPic=1&LID=en&locationid=9065 We too are not going to Olympia, but will spend the day in the port
I&MsMom Posted May 14, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2007 I'm not sure about the swimming conditions, but there is a beach right in Katakolon that you can drive on. There are some restaurants along it, and we had lunch at one of them. When they weren't actually eating, our kids waded in the water (didn't swim as we didn't have suits with us) and played in the sand. This beach is to the right as you are leaving the ship. e-cruiser Posted May 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2007 There is a nice beach about a 20 minute drive from the Port. It's @ The Aldemar hotel. It's on the west coast north of the port. You can use Google Earth to check it out. It's in a town called Koukori ( I probably spelled it wrong , sorry) We intend on going to the beach @ The Aldemar have some lunch then to the local winery (Mercouri Estate) before heading back to the ship. xander Posted May 15, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted May 15, 2007 Gee thanks for all the info , the beach looks great ! A swim at the beach in the morning followed by lunch in the harbour sounds like a great plan .
