We are thinking about taking this cruise but can not decide on an itinerary. NCL offers anywhere from 7 to 12 day cruises. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations? We prefer sailing out of New York. Has any one sailed on 1 of this before? What type of price were you able to get? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Hi. We took the 7-Day Canada/New England cruise on the Dawn last September. The itinerary was different than that being offered this year. It was a NY/NY round trip with stops in Marthas Vineyard (missed due to rough seas), Halifax, Bar Harbor, Boston and Newport. This was our first cruise and we had a great time. Total cost was about $3200 for a BB catagory stateroom. We thought the dawn was just wonderful. The staff was never without a smile. The service was very good overall. The stateroom was well kept and the food was very good. There was always plenty to do onboard even after our stop at Marthas Vineyard was cancelled due to bad weather. We were unable to tender. They printed a new itinerary for that day and got copies to everyone on board almost immediately. We did the Sept 2nd sailing, If it had been possible we would have taken a later sailing to see the fall colors. It was cooler in Halifax and there were some leaf color but not alot. We would highly recommend this cruise in any of the lengths offered. If we were to take the 6-Day and miss Newport it would be OK since that was our least favorite of the ports. The other ports were terrific and the excursions we took were alot of fun. We did Boston on own since we've been there many times and had certain things in mind that we wanted to do. Hope you have a good time if you decide to book one of these sailings. If you have any other questions please ask.

We did the 12 day because our TA gave us double shipboard credits for the longer cruise. The leaves are gorgeous in October. Plus if you do the cruise in October you can get the spring for it credit plus whatever your travel agent is willing to give you!

We did a 12 day on the Jewel in October 2005 (NY/NY) and had a great time. The itinerary was NY, Boston, Saint John (NB), Halifax (NS), Quebec City, Sydney (NS) and Bar Harbor.

The fall colors were a bit late that year but we managed to catch some good showings during our tour of Cadillac Mountain from Bar Harbor. The Gulf of St Lawrence was an interesting experience as we had Force 10 gales which delayed our arrival in Sydney by 2 hours. Didn't feel a thing though, the Jewel was as steady as a rock!

We were in a BA on Deck 10 but our total costs were inflated by a trans-Atlantic flight and 2 nights hotel in NYC so don't think this type of pricing would be of much help to you. Good luck.

Greetings from Scotland
