Window front or balcony side for alaska?

Hi and I would like some help please:confused:

At the moment I have booked a front facing window cabin 8001 on Mercury for an Alaska cruise late May 2008. I felt this was a good idea as you would have the frontal view as you cruised but no balcony. I just wonder if anyone has travelled in this cabin batch, there are actually only five cabins that do have a frontal view and they seemed all to be available? That worried me as it may mean it is not a good idea. just want to check it out before I put my deposit down. I have also read that balconies are not such a good idea on Alaska as they have a tendency to be cold!!
