picktowncruzr Posted July 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2007 Can I rent a car from Kahului from NOON to NOON when in Kahului? Do the shuttles run throughout the day? Am going on a morning excursion and don't want to pick up the car until later. Am planning to drive to Lahaina for the Old Lahaina Luau and am staying overnight in a hotel there. Would like to have a leisurely morning and return the car around NOON. Trying to avoid paying for two days rental if possible. Any help is appreciated! Hawaiian Mongoose Posted July 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2007 ...then call and talk to an agent. Maybe even call the Hawai'i local car rental number to confirm your reservation and time. 24 hours is 24 hours regardless of when it starts. If you have a car reserved, a concern I see is that a company might not hold a car in inventory for you after the morning "rush" from the ship. wmbjr Posted July 13, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2007 picktowncruzr, It should not be a problem at all. The 24 hours starts whenever you get the car. So if you get it from noon you have until noon the next day to return it. Also, I can speak to Thrifty car rental and they had shuttles running the entire time the local business was open. I cannot remember if it closed at 9 (I think that was it), but they had shuttles from the time the ship arrived in port until it closed. They ran about every 15 minutes to start and then slowed to about every 30 minutes. William
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted July 13, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 13, 2007 Don't waste your time calling the 800 number. Call the office directly. You usually get wrong info from the corporate office. They are very accomodating so I'm sure it will be fine. You might have to wait a little while for the shuttle but you could call them from port to let them know you are waiting. picktowncruzr Posted July 14, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted July 14, 2007 Perfect! Thanks everyone. I did call Thrifty and reserved a car through them instead of through the ship. Maui is all set now! Can't wait.
