What to do in Miami

What to do in Miami ? We will be in Miami for a day before our cruise in April. Will have from noon to bedtime for sightseeing..never been in Miami before. Is there a watertaxi like in FLL on 17th Street ? Is there a casino near Hollywood( reservation) ? Will have a rental car. Have not found a place to stay yet. Since I will have the rental till we board the ship, I am pretty open for a place to stay. Will probably try Priceline for a 3 star location. Would like something under $100 if possible. Any suggestions. Thanks so much for your help.
