Alaskan Cruise in May/June

First time cruiser and thinking about the Alskan Cruise. Want to go when we will see the most wildlife and beauty of the area. Any comments on cruising late May early June are appreciated (weather, sights,etc.). Thinking it will be a little chilly but would think it would be less crowded and with the cooler weather..see more wildlife? Also....do the glaciers break off any time of the year or does this happen mostly in the warmer weather? thanks in advance

We went mid-June. We thought it was a perfect time -- warmer than May, still "kids free" for the most part as opposed to July/August, etc.

However, that may not be the best time to see wildlife. You are too early for the Salmon runs; therefore, Bear viewing may not be that easy. Plenty of Humpback Whales, and Eagles -- just about everywhere though.
