Tubing The Hanamaulu Ditch - Claustrophobic?

If anyone has been on this excursion, could you please describe just how claustrophobic this is. Is the space in the tunnels quite restrictive and the ceilings low? I appreciate that there are degrees of claustrophibia but we just need to know if one would think that it's pretty close in those tunnels. Your comments are appreciated.

The tunnels are actually quite large and they give you a little flashlight thing to wear on your head so you can see every inch of the tunnel, making the experience a little less stressful. Most of the tunnels are fairly short so if you can handle the dark rides at Disneyland or Disneyworld (many spontaneously burst into the Pirates of the Carribean song when entering the first tunnel, too! Haha) , you can totally handle the ditch tubing.:D

We just did this last week (actually 1 week ago today :( ) and had a blast! There are 5 tunnels and they are relatively short. Like swankie said they give you helmets with headlamps on them. Just don't believe any of the stories that you are told about bats and leaches on the way up to the ditch.

SwankieG and MommyJamiex4 - thank you. Because it is our anniversary that day we also were considering the Wailua River Cruise, Luau & Romantic Ceremony on Kauai but when we saw "the ditch" we thought it would be fun. The disclaimer on 'the ditch' says that if you are claustrophobic don't do it so that's why we asked because we couldn't imagine it would be that bad. Really appreciate your comments.

Unless you have severe clastrophobia, you should be fine. They are primarily concerned wiht those who will not be comfortable floating along in a ditch, going into some tunnels and sitting in in inner tube for close to an hour.

However, it is a blast! It is super safe (the water is very shallow) and it is calmer than water rides at amusement parks.
