Russian river pre cruise to Latvia

We are taking a pre cruise to Riga, Latvia enroute from the USA to St. Petersburg in 2008. Has anyone done this pre cruise trip? Could you give us a review please. Which hotels are convenient? We will fly air Baltic from Sweden into and out of Latvia to St. Pete. What are the luggage weight and size restrictions?

Sight seeing ideas?

Any tips will be appreciated. Thanks
