SAN to LAX

Flights have not been booked. I am weighing my options right now. Although, the LAX option seems to be more expensive. I was hoping it would be cheap & easy!

When I retire, I'm moving closer to a port. Being land-locked sucks.

You are definitely better off booking something directly home from SAN rather than attempting to catch a flight out of LAX especially on a weekday. The freeways between San Diego and LA can be parking lots at the best of times. It would be at least a 2 hour drive in the best of traffic.

I wouldn't book a flight out of San Diego before noon either.

There are hourly flights between SAN-LAX on both American Eagle & United Express. The flight time is just about an hour.

So the issue becomes if there are any flight delays between the airports.

It's also worth noting that the American Eagle flights land at a satellite terminal at LAX which requires a forced bus transfer to the main American Terminal, Terminal 5. This can upward of 20 minutes to any transfer time.
