Sloth Sanctuary

In the description for the Sloth Sanctuary Tour it says you also get a canoe ride in the Estrella River and short nature walk in addition to seeing the sloths. How much wildlife was seen on the canoe/walk? Was anyone successful in seeing any other animals other than birds? I am trying to maximize my chances of seeing a variety of wildlfe and and am wondering if the sloth sanctuary is the way to go.

Has anyone done both the sloth sanctuary and the Tortuguero Canal tour?

Which one did you see more animals?

Thanks.

We went to the sloth sanctuary last November. Our ships tour was cancelled so we rented a taxi for a day with another couple and went there. The river ride is on the river on which the sanctuary is built. You will see lots of birds, iguanas, sloths in the wild and possibly howler monkeys. The sanctuary has captive sloths - some of which will be rehabilitated and released. One of the staff takes you around a nature trail. we enjoyed it very much but then I am a sloth fanatic.
