Has anyone traveled with a child with high functioning autism?

I guess it would depend on exactly how high functioning your child is. If he functions in a regular classroom/church/daycare/whatever, then I imagine he would do well on a ship. If he can tolerate a lot of activity around him without a meltdown, then he should be fine. If he is high functioning enough to go with the flow under most circumstances, he should be fine. If he's the type of child who cannot handle going to the grocery store or being around playgroups, then I would just keep him with you during the day.

My son isn't autistic, but he has many "quirks" related to some sensory processing issues. However, he has been on many cruises and enjoyed every one immensely. We just have to take the same precautionary measures that we do at home...minimize surprises, loud noises, etc. Hopefully, someone else could answer your question more specifically from their own experiences.
