Parrothead420 Posted January 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Does anyone know of a hotel/motel that is very reasonably priced, near the cruise ship terminal and the airport in San Diego? We would like to be able to walk to a little shopping and food too. Shuttle? Cont breakfast? Thanks for the help!!!!!
Wilbo Posted January 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Stay at Holiday Inn across the street from where you board. Anthony's is also just across the street - Great Seafood.
Splinter Posted January 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2008 What is your definition of "reasonably priced"??? The Holiday Inn on the Bay is very convenient, but unless you can snag it on Priceline, etc. I would not consider it to be an inexpensive place to stay. Consider La Pensione in Little Italy. While you may need to cab (less than $10) to the port for embarkation, it is in the heart of Little Italy...lots of shops, good places to eat (esp. if you like Italian) and easy to get onto the San Diego Trolley to go to Old Town, the Gaslamp Quarter or Seaport Village (or even to the port...there is a stop 2 blocks away). You can also save a bit by booking on-line with them. They don't have a restaurant or serve breakfast, but you can easily get an inexpensive breakfast within close walking distance. Parrothead420 Posted January 8, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Thanks very much Splinter & Wilbo! I have looked at both and they look great, now to let the boss (Finance) make the final decision.
MaryAnn261 Posted January 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2008 We booked the Best Western Bayside for 1 night pre-cruise thru the San Diego Convention and Visitor's Bureau site for just under $100 + tax. They have a shuttle fromt the airport and to the pier also a free breakfast. It's only supposed to be a couple of blocks to Little Italy. We will be staying there in Feb. mjbearit Posted January 9, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 9, 2008 Hey Parrothead, the problem is the reasonable part! :D Not much around here is reasonably priced. The prices also fluctuate with the seasons with the prices getting pretty steep during tourist season (that's when the tourists get ripe!). If you can find anything on the bay for close to $100.00 you are doing very well. You might want to try some of those on-line companies and see if you can get something cheap, or if you belong to anything like AAA or AARP (I know you guys aren't that old, but somebody else reading this might be!) a lot of the hotels around here do offer some sort of discount, albeit a slim one. Another thing you can do if money is a real deal breaker is to go onto google.com and type in San Diego Hotel Circle. We have an area in San Diego that is called Hotel Circle that is not far from downtown at all (literally minutes away) and just about every hotel chain under the sun is there. Since it is not on the water the prices are MUCH more reasonable. A lot of them will offer free shuttle service as well. Oh, and Mission Valley is a really nice area as well. It's not a slum at all! There are a lot of good dining areas down there and even a 2 major shopping malls in the immediate area.
