willieg Posted February 25, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2008 I understand that there is a shuttle from the ship to the port building that has some duty free shopping. Is that shuttle WC accessible? If not, how far is it to this building? Thanks
garabato Posted March 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2008 There IS generally a free shuttle bus from the ship to the Cartagena Terminal facilities. It does not have a lift, but generally has a fold-down step. It turns around at the end of the pier (beyond the ship's tour buses lined up for loading) until the ship's tours are all gone, at which point it begins to turn around right at the ship's gangway. However, it is not necessary to wait for the shuttle. The distance from the land end of the ship's pier to the port facilities is about 200 yards, all flat and paved. At the port facilities there is a limited duty-free shop, a place selling good coffee, and the snack shop and communications center (phones, internet access) on the level you come in on; and more shopping and attractive gardens to sit in just down a short incline. All areas of the Port facility, such as it is, are wheel chair accessible. You will find that both the tour guides and the independent taxi drivers will take wrestling a chair in and out of the trunk in their stride; so taking an independent tour or taxi ride is not out of the question.
