You can go to the spots on your own, but . . . I can only speak for Gastineau Guiding in Juneau - the boat is designed for photography. There are open sides with cushioned railings you can lean against to take pictures. Also, the captain is only navigating for photo opportunities, not for fishing/etc. They actively look for wildlife and will wait until everyone has the photos they want before moving on.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures. We are going in June with friends we've known 40+ years for our first trip to Alaska and can't wait. Seeing these pictures sure gets the heart racing to get there.:)

I am also a avid photo nut. We plan our vacations on where we have good

photo opps.....

 

So there a lot of chances to take photos with out special tours. You can

take a lot of great photos on your own which will only cost you your time.
