momma25 Posted March 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2008 I am going to be sailing Victory on the 13th of April. I need to know if my blackberry will work so that I can use my email to correspond with children at home. I would appreciate any advice on this that you can offer. thank you
grandmato4 Posted March 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2008 Yes, I believe it should work as the Victory has a cell tower but check with your specific cell phone carrier for what the charges will be so you don't have a major surprise when you return home and get your next bill. For our Verizon phone calls the rate was $2.49 per minute- text messages 50 cents outgoing and I think 5 cents incoming(?). Your normal rate plan does not apply when on oboard or in most foreign ports. I saw many people using their phones often and have no doubt they had no idea what kind of bill was instore for them after their return

yellowbird23 Posted March 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2008 I kept in touch with Verizon on my 11-night S. Caribbean to the tune of $115 extra on my phone bill. Needed to know all was well. That was worth the charge.
