rac Posted October 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2004 How is the shopping at the International Pier? From previous posts, it sounds like there may not be much there. We will be there in a few weeks and was wondering about shopping there.
CaptChris Posted October 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2004 There is a decent assortment of shops selling the typical items (t-shirts, leather, liquor, etc.). There are pay phones, an internet cafe as well as at least one car rental office. We looked at things, and then compared the prices at places downtown. If there were items cheaper at the International pier, we would buy them upon return to the ship. There is also a small sr. frogs near the pier as well. If you have any specific questions, do not hesitate to ask. I will pick my brain for the answers!
solita Posted October 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2004 There are many passengers that walk down to Puerta Maya to shop! It is only one block down to your right when you exit the TMM building. The shops at PM are very nice and things are spread out...unlike the crowded space at TMM. Just a tip.
tyowb Posted October 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2004 If you are looking for souvenirs, there are plenty of storefronts and vendors to buy from. Many sell the same items with a great disparity in pricing, so shop around. Again though, except for a couple of the jewelry shops and leather shop, most of the stores in the International Pier will be selling t-shirts, maracas, fishbone statues, pottery, etc. Since the items are very similar from one shop to the next, there is a good deal of competition, so don't be afraid to bargain or walk away. I don't know if these were all good deals, but here are some of the "bargains" we negotiated: * maracas (originally $1) bought for 3/$1 * 5 section bowl (originally $45) bought for $25 * eagle fishbone statue (originally $35) bought for $21 * beach coverup (originally $40) bought for $22 * large blanket (originally $12) bought 3/$15 Like I said, I don't know if they were all bargains, but some of the fun of the shopping was the haggling. Have fun.

solita Posted October 22, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 22, 2004 I think there is one around the corner from my place. It is a small store on Juarez in between 10 and 15. Right before you come to Sonora Grill. I will double check and see what they have. Caro
CozSally Posted October 22, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 22, 2004 There's also one on 10th bewteen Salas and Calle 1, called Bugambilias. They close for siesta, so you'll have to go either in the morning or late afternoon/evening.
