RCL Pre-cruise hotel stay....

Recommended Posts

I am not sure if RCCL is different then other cruise lines, because I have never booked a hotel stay through the cruise line before.

What are the reasons people book their pre-cruise hotel stay through the cruise line? I am getting ready to book a pre-cruise hotel stay for two days and the difference in price is about $6. When I look at the information the cruise line has it just says a room at the hotel. If I book on the hotel's website it says king bed, etc. So what is the benefit of booking through the cruise line for only the hotel? Since I am not booking airfare through them transfers are extra.

Letting them do the actual booking of the room and paying once on your part.

Even if you booked only the hotel through RCI, your transfers from the hotel to the ship should be included, though not transfers from the airport to the hotel and perhaps not the transfer from the ship back to the airport. If the difference is truly only $6, I would jump on it and book through RCI. The taxi fare from most hotels to the pier will usually exceed $6. Usually, however, the price that the cruiseline offers for a hotel stay is a per person rate, not the per room rate that you get when booking directly with the hotel. Please check to make sure that RCI's rate is only $6 more than the hotel's per room nightly rate.:) Even when we book the hotel through the cruiseline, the people at the hotel registration desk usually ask our room preferences and try their best to accommodate us. My son and his family were asked if they would like a suite at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Miami, which had been booked through Priceline, and were not charged any extra for it. People at the check-in desks can be very helpful if you make your requests in a pleasant and respectful manner. :)
