Day 4: Cozumel

We woke up bright and early.... I was getting more excited the closer we got. You could easily see Senor Frogs and the shopping area from our balcony. Once we docked we got off the ship as soon as we could.

Ditto this!

Great start to Cozumel! And once again you have some awesome pictures!

Thanks Mom!

I feel so lucky for having booked the Legend this year--all these outstanding reviews with pictures I'm in cruise heaven.

Loved your picture with the rainbow--you should enter that one is a contest.

I'll be watching for the rest of the story :D :D :D you're doing a wonderful outstanding job.

Thanks!!!! I think the Legend is going to be my favorite ship and I haven't even been on it yet.

Okay I am really bummed. I was all into this thread reading the review on your cruise and now it is over. Where are you!!!!!! I am having withdrawal!!!! Please continue. The pictures are great and it is wonderful to have the pictures with the review. It makes me feel as though I am right there with you. We are going on our first cruise in September and this is giving me goose bumps with anticipation. I am going to do exactly the same thing with the pictures and the review. I may start now giving my bits of anticipation.... Nah!!!! Just keep your review coming. :D
Boooo! I never saw that! Thanks for sharing your picture, though. At least I kind of get to see it this way. I *heart* all things Mexico... including tequila!

Woooo Mexico!
I love Mexico too! I'm sorry that you didn't get to see the Margarita bar while you were on the ship.

Thanks for all of the kind words! :D

After reading several reviews before I boarded the Legend I had a feeling it would be my favorite ship as well. The reviews certainly help you to get to know the ship before you board it.

Yes, I do like the picture with the rainbow, but I have a couple of other ones coming that I think are awesome as well. Hmmmm, I wonder where I could go to enter them?

I'm not done with the review yet. ;) It just takes me a while to write it, and put the proper pictures with the review. Looking back I meant to post some other pictures of the Dreamteam Bar, but I somehow I guess I forgot. I am glad that you are enjoying my review. I'll try to post some more tonight, but my kids are coming back from a couple of days with their dad, so I may not get the chance.

Cozumel continued:

Shortly after we arrived Tess and Al showed up. Melizza wasn’t there yet, but I knew she would be soon. Melizza did arrive at the time planned. She asked us if we got the e-mail from Carrie. I said, “No, when was it sent?”

She told us a couple of days ago. Since we were on board the ship I hadn’t checked the e-mail. Anyway, the problem was that the Twister boat had conflicting tours. So, we had 2 options. We could take the boat to the island at 12:00. (Remember it was only 9:30 in Mexico at this time.) Or, we could take the taxi to the regular boat that would take us to the island. If we chose that option the Twister would give us our very own ride shortly after we arrived on the island. We really wanted to take advantage of all the island had to offer so we decided to go with the second option.

The other couple that was going with us still had not arrived at the meeting place. We were just about to leave without them when Melizza got a call saying that they were at the meeting place for people who booked with the ship. So, we waited and a few short minutes later Andrea and Ryan showed up. The ride to the boat for Passion Island wasn’t too bad. It was a little bumpy, but I have certainly been on worse rides. About 10 minutes later we arrived at the dock where the boat would take us to the island. I was really excited to see the island.

When we arrived we got our pictures taken next to the sign that said Isla Pasion. At first the island didn’t seem all that great. But, the more we walked the more we could see. I have to say it is an absolutely beautiful place. The bathrooms are immaculate. There is a person who sits there until someone comes. She then closes the door after you go in. I’m assuming she was the one that made sure it was clean as well. I made sure to tip her before we left for the day.

At first it was only the 6 of us and the workers on the island. We headed to the bar to get a drink. Woo, they were strong! We then continued to explore. Andrea and Ryan made sure to go jump on the water trampoline right away. A short time later we noticed that the Twister boat was on its way. We saw the people get off the boat. They were totally drenched. Oh, I was certainly looking forward to this. We told Andrea and Ryan that it was our turn to ride the boat, so they quickly came ashore.

I should have posted this earlier, but I just found the picture. (We took over 1,000 pictures on this trip, so I have to navigate through them all to find the ones I want to use.)

This is a picture through the window as we were driving to the boat that would take us to the island.

This is the little area we were in to take the boat to the island:

All I can say about the Twister ride is : “WOW!!!!” Ricardo (AKA Ricky Martin) and Pepe were our guides. They were awesome! At first it was kind of tame, but still fun. I was thinking this was something I could handle. But, then the good stuff came. We were getting a soaking! Tess had said at one point she thought we were under water. :D I’m very glad that we booked this privately. It was kind of nice to only have 6 of us on the boat. We were also treated like royalty. I’m pretty sure we got a few extra spins during our ride around the island. Also the customer service rep I worked with in my booking (Carrie) went out of her way to make sure she answered each of my questions. I hope Passion Island knows what a gem they have working for them. As Tina said in a post earlier, I booked with tourcozumel dot net. (Take away the spaces and put a period instead of the word dot.)

When we came back to the island we were ready to eat lunch. The food was fantastic! I only like guacamole that is made with fresh avocados. It was evident that this guacamole was. I mixed the guacamole with salsa, habeneros (sp?) sauce, and per Ryan’s suggestion lime juice. Yum!!!!!

After lunch I decided to relax for a while on the beach while Russ explored some more. He came back to me riding a Segway. It was one with tires made for the beach which I thought was pretty cool. The price to ride one of these is $8 for 15 minutes. I thought this was very reasonable.

After a while we decided to go shopping in the little shopping area. We then hung out with our new friends in the bar area until it was time to go.

In a way I didn’t want to go. But, I had never been to Carlos & Charlie’s the other 4 times I’d been to Cozumel. I was torn, but I could see that it was getting ready to rain anyway. So our new adventure began.

Kelli-Ann, your review and pictures are absolutely fantastic. Makes me feel that I'm right back there. All week long everyone has said that they wish we were still on the cruise. Wish we could have just booked a back-to-back on the Legend. We're cruising again in October with some friends on the HAL to the Mexican Riveria. We always cruise on Carnival, so this will be our first time on Holland. Don't know if anything can beat this last cruise, but hey, I could cruise every week if we could just win the lottery.

Peggy: Thank you so much! Writing it is helping me to relive it. I too, wish that I could have done a back to back, but I probably would have missed my children too much to do that without them. I'm sure your cruise on HAL with your friends will be great. I've always wanted to do the Mexican Riviera. But, I believe all of those set sail from Texas or California. There's no way I'm paying to fly to a port when I can always drive to one in Florida. I am happy to say that I am going to be going on a short cruise with my girls in a few weeks. So, hopefully that will hold me off until I can cruise again!

You're right, it does sail out of San Diego for the Mexican Riveria. And I don't blame you for sailing out of Florida. You have so many ports to choose from. Crazy, but when we lived in Orlando (for 11 years), we only took two cruises. Then, once we moved back to Georgia, we have cruised more than ever. We've gone out of Pt. Canaveral three times, Ft. Lauderdale two times, Tampa once, Hawaii once, and twice out of New Orleans. Never have taken a cruise out of Miami, but I'm sure we will one day.

Isla Pasion looks awesome! I'd love to do the Twister/Pasion tour when I go back there! (I just hope it's not another five and a half years before I return to Mexico!)

In Wisconsin Dells they have the Jet Boats, similar to how I imagine the Twister to be. I've been on that once.... I loved it! At one point, we were going fast, then the guy stopped hard and a wall of water built up and fell on us! And of course the 360's and stuff... soakin' awesome!

I didn't know that there are beach tires for the Segways! Just might have to do that, too! I have an irrational fear of falling, so I literally cannot ride a Segway. (I tried at EPCOT and about had a panic attack.) However, replace the concrete of EPCOT with the sands of Mexico and you probably got yourself a deal!

Another great installment of the Legendary Mom series! And amazing pictures once again! Thanks Mom!

Paula: I don't mind talking "shop" every once in a while. I'm glad you're enjoying the review.

Judy: I wish you could have come with us too! We had a wonderful time!

snc: That's the way our ride was too. We has "walls" of water fall on us several times. We have video of it, but I haven't even got a chance to look at it yet. Ricardo and Pepe even took some video for us.

saturn: I'm glad I'm able to help build your anticipation. You're sailing on my birthday, so have a DOD for me! :D

You have the same flip flops as me!! I bought them like 2 days before we left for our cruise last month because I wanted something comfy and grippy so I hopefully wouldn't slip on the wet decks. I loved them and they really worked out great! I just thought it was funny when I saw them on your feet too!

Day 4 Cozumel continued:

We arrived at C & C, and the party was certainly happening. I had walked through this place a couple of times before, but I guess that was in the morning before things started happening. This is a fun place to go even if you don’t drink. You can just watch all the people. I’m pretty sure the people who work there enjoy their jobs because they participate in the fun too. There’s lots of singing and dancing. They really do a lot to get you to participate. And, I have to say their Margaritas are very good. Anyway we stayed for about an hour because I wanted to make sure that we made it back to the ship in time. We told the others from our Twister group we were leaving since we didn’t want them to worry about us. We arrived at the ship about 40 minutes before we left port.

We were so tired from our day of fun we decided to take a nap until it was time to get ready for the past guest party. Needless to say, we didn’t make it to the past guest party. We woke up at 8:40! Not only did we miss the party, but we missed dinner as well. I guess we were eating on the Lido deck tonight. After dinner I was still quite tired so I went back to the room. Russ went to play in the casino and watch the comedian. He said that the comedian was very good. The comedian was Max Winfrey. It’s a shame I missed it, but I knew I needed my rest since we would be getting up early again tomorrow.

Our room was made up for us after we came back from eating on the Lido deck.
