Driving from Indianapolis to Tampa?

Hi...I am considering driving from Indy to Tampa for a Legend cruise, and mapquest says it's about a 16 hour drive. Does anyone have any suggestions for a) a cheap hotel along the way or B) the real length of the drive. I know that mapquest times are generally slower than real time...

When are you driving? I know that in downtown Atlanta, from Friday night to Monday AM four of six lanes on I-75/85 are closed for re-paving. Delays run up to three hours sometimes. Also, numerous exits in the area are closed all weekend. This will be gowning on for several months, until about November. I would guess other states would have road work that would cause delays. Check each state’s DOT web site.
