Flying into SNA for 1 day Disney precruise LGB, transportation advice?

I have been reading the boards, but can't come up with an answer to my transportation question. We will be flying into SNA John Wayne and will arrive late on a Friday night. We cruise out on a Sunday (Carnival Pride - Long Beach). We would like to do a quick one day Disney on Saturday.

I am trying to figure out which hotel to stay at Fri/Sat night and whether it is possible to rent a car at the airport, do our thing on Saturday, and then drop it off on Sunday somewhere near the Carnival pier? We don't want to switch hotels - would like to stay near port and just drive to Disney on Saturday. We have been to LA before, so we do realize the distance, traffic issues. Unless there is a hotel that would be able to shuttle us from SNA, and then to LGB pier on Sunday, and has a rental car agency nearby? Any hotel/transportation advice? Thanks!

Option #1

Rent an Enterprise car at the airport.

Drive to Crowne Plaza in San Pedro.

They will shuttle you to and from Carnival pier.

The Enterprise office is right there on the bottom floor of the hotel.

Return from your cruise, rent a car (maybe just return it to the airport) or just take a Super Shuttle back to John Wayne.

This would be the most convenient option for what you want to do all around.

Option #2

In my opinion, this won't actually end up being more convenient, but...

Rent a car from SNA

that correlates with a rental agency from Long Beach

Stay at Coast Hotel in Long Beach

or one of the downtown hotels

You'd have to check which rental agencies will shuttle you to and from their pickups to hotel and back.

My problem with this particular agenda, is that even though you are "technically" closer to the Carnival pier at your hotel.

All of the time and schlepping to and from the hotel to the rental place, then back again, then to the pier is a big waste of vacation stress.

I just know on my time, I want it to be easiest, and stress free.

But, maybe they'll work with you so well, it won't be so bad.

Either way, there's a couple of options.

Thank you! I will check into these options. Since we are traveling with kids, the less hassle the better. I will do some research and see what I can come up with. The easiest thing would be do rent a car from the airport, park it for the week while cruising, and then return it to the airport - but not sure that is cost effective. Thanks again!
