Klongmaster Posted September 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2008 As a foreigner living here in Bangkok I can assure you that this 'State of Emergency' has absolutley no effect on daily life. The protest is restricted to the area of Government House which is well away from the normal tourist routes. The protest movement is trying to get the unions involved and Thai International flights are expected to be delayed - both incoming and outgoing - for a few days. Local buses have stopped running in Bangkok but the trains nationwide are back operating again. All schools are closed in Bangkok city which will draw little complaint from either students of teachers! If you're planning a trip here, by the time you arrive this will all be over.
