Browezilla Posted September 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2008 Hi all, I've been reading a lot of posts here about the snorkeling on Roatan. Sounds wonderful. For me, I love to see beautiful coral more so than fish. Which beach or boat guide would your recommend? I've read a lot about Fosters, West End, West Bay, F&F etc, but it isn't clear to me which has the best coral. Also, if you could rate it for difficulty. My wife isn't a strong swimmer so having to swim out 200 yds to coral probably won't work for her. Thanks, B
Akkarebear Posted October 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2008 We were in Roatan in January and had a wonderful time. The water is amazing!!! We booked an excursion through Carnival for snuba diving. We went to Gumbalimba Nature Park. It was a once in a lifetime experience. The people are so helpful and didn't push or rush us. The guides did say the visability was better the further from land you go, due to surf kicking up sand. They took us just a few hundred yards from shore, the water was shallow off Gumbalimba shore so we saw tons of coral and fish. Afterwards, before we left the park we were able to go on a nature hike. We got to hold parrots and monkeys.:) The water is so clear, nothing will ever compare. I highly recommend Gumbalimba park. Whatever your choice, do something in the water while in Roatan, you won't regret it!
