Need help with Kona beaches

We would like to visit a nearby beach during our one day in Kona. We are thinking of going to Napo'opo'o Beach Park. Is there transportation from the pier available? Snorkle equipment vendors nearby? Any other recommended beaches near Kona?

I have seen on these boards that there are taxis at the pier normally. That said, Napoopoo is pretty far away and there is another beach that is very popular and very good snorkeling and definately has snorkle gear for rent, showers, and usually a little food cart. It's called Kahalu'u. It is right next to the Ohana Keauhou Beach Hotel. There is a shuttle that runs down Alii Drive from the pier area to (past) the beach. However, I do not know what the schedule is. (It's called the Ali'i Shuttle)
