Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport West

Hello all,

Has anyone here stayed at or heard about the Hilton Garden Inn on NW 74th Ave in Miami ? We are planning on staying there for 1 night pre-cruise. We are flying into PBI the day before our cruise out of POM, renting a car and driving into Miami and will keep the car overnight.

 

We chose this hotel for 3 main reasons:

* Was available against hotel reward points

* Did not have parking fees

* Since we are renting a car from PBI, we can pretty much drive anywhere we want, and the next day we plan on driving to the port and returning the car there. So it did not make sense to stay at a hotel closer to the port, since all of them have parking fees

 

So, does any one have any experience with this hotel or the general area ? Are there any restaurants/ shopping places around there ? TripAdvisor has only one review which is a positive one.

 

Also, since we will be driving into downtown Miami, and we have never been there, what is the parking situation ? Is it very expensive to park in downtown (like here in NYC) ? Also can we just park at one place and walk around ?

 

Anything else I need to know about the hotel or Miami, given that we are visiting that area for the first time ?

I believe this is the new one that opened a few weeks ago. I have called there with questions and they seem very friendly. I ask about parking and was told it was a secure lot with security. Hope it goes well for you

Thanks Christy123...I heard the same thing..that its a new property. Since we will only be sleeing there for the night, this seemed OK to us.

This hotel is located west of the airport and 36th street in NW Miami. It is an decent area right off the Palmetto Expressway (826 expressway) and the 36th street exit (East). Quite a few restaurants as well as gas stations, liquor stores, etc. in the area. Again, looks like a good place (looks pretty new from the outside), and with the name Hilton to back it up, you could not go wrong!

We want to buy some liquor to carry on board with us, so it looks like we will have some stores close by.

 

There is also a Costco about 3 miles from this place...would you know if Costco in Florida sells liquor ? I know the ones in NJ/ NY do.
