a good overall Barbados tour

Hello,

We are going to Barbados for the first time, can anyone recommend a good tour. One that might cover culture, heritage, history, scenic, rum distillery and maybe food samplings. Sort of like Cosul on St Lucia. What is the best thing to do in Barbados?

Thanks!

Bonnie

I am surprised nobody answered you yet. We too booked Cosul on St Lucia. The answer on Barbados is easy!

We really enjoyed Barbados. We prearranged for Glory Tour's "Best of Barbados Tour" (Option A) $94 per person (after web discount) plus tips which included lunch, entrance fees, and drinks. It was an all-day tour that ran from 9:00am to 4:00pm. All entrance fees were included. There were just six of us on this guided tour that took us all over the island. Our driver, Stephen, took us first to Harrision Cave where were enjoyed a guided tram tour underground. These caves are spectacular. Then on to Bathsheba on the East Coast for impressive views of the ocean and rock formations. We ate a delicious lunch of Flying Fish, rice and beans, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese casserole, and a coke. We then worked our way to the Wild Life Reserve where we saw an abundance of green-tailed monkeys, tortoises, iguanas, a python, peacocks, turkeys, and other critters I couldn't identify. Stephen then treated us to a Barbados Rum Punch at the bar there. On the West Coast, we took a glass bottom boat to two snorkeling destinations: first visiting a ship wreck, then a spot where we swam with sea turtles (West Coast). Recommended!

I'd also recommend Glory Tours for this in Barbados (we loved Cosol's tour in St. Lucia). There are several tours; we did the Explore and Discover Barbados tour (description below from their website):

Explore and Discover Barbados is a specially create tour that will help first time visitors to Barbados to Discover the beauty and charm of Barbados whilst being the perfect tour for returning visitors to renew fond memories and make a few new ones. Our route starts along the South Coast beginning with the Barbados capital of Bridgetown from here we will travel up the coast pass Accra Beach, Oistins, Foul Bay, Miami Beach, Bathsheba, The East Coast , Stop for lunch then head off to Cherry Tree Hill, North Point. From the North we head back down the West Coast to Holetown. Where you will then board a glass bottom boat for cruise.Swim with our friendly sea turtles, sail down the West Coast and snorkel off of one of our colorful reefs.

Our guide was Kwame/Quammie?, and he was very entertaining and informed. He answered all of our questions, and we had a great time with him. Lunch was included so we had great flying fish cutters (sandwiches on a bun apparently are called cutters; that was new to me - there were other non-fish items, but I don't recall) with fries (you could choose salad) and juices like guava or mango (you could get soda too). Swimming with the seaturtles was a lot of fun too.

Hey cmn2d,

Your one of the few that wrote a review on the Explore & Discover Barbados tour. I think im going to book this as the caves are closed while im in port.

How much of the time would you say you were in the car vs. out walking/exploring and roughly how much time out on the water? Also, how many people were on the boat for the snorkeling.

I only ask as my and my friend are pretty active 20 somethings and dont wan to be in a van for 4 hours. Any of your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks
