karen2cruz Posted November 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2004 We've only been cruising for 5 years now and I understand itinerary changes for weather and politics (like RCCL cancelling Labadee during Haiti unrest), but why changes for "no reason"? Just found out Golden Princess itinerary for January (on the 9th and 23rd cruises) swapped ports around. OK, same ports but different days. Can drive those of us crazy who book with private tours in advance:confused: So, experienced cruisers, do you have any thoughts on this? My TA says he is getting 3-10 changes a day the past little while (only a small% are weather related). He doesnt remember it being so crazy. sue d. miller Posted November 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2004 Hi Karen. I am not a TA so I am only guessing!! Some of the changes may be ships making room for added ships to the ports, could be changing to accommodate dry docks, even the ports themselves may be responsible for changes!! spongerob Posted November 11, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2004 Most ports can only handle so many ships and passengers every day. With more ships and bigger ships, I suspect that berth space is forcing some ports to change their schedules. The additional effects caused by lingering hurricane damage on some itineraries only makes the problem worse.
