Debbers Posted December 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2008 These itineraries look wonderful, but can anyone tell us about shipboard life? There's little about that on the website and the brochures have not arrived. How's the cuisine? Are meals served at set times? Single seating? Are there any shipboard activities? I know that most passengers are Europeans; are they generally friendly to us monoglot Americans? Thanks very much!

(Norwegian cruise) Shipboard life is for relaxing, there may be a musician entertaining and there are also the theme cruises. There is a lot of information on the ports visited. Food is excellent, with an emphasis on seafood- lunch buffet and set dinner. Make sure you take full-board. You are allocated a seat and there may be 2 sittings during the height of the season. Everyone was friendly when we were on board- a real mix of nationalities from Scandinavia, Europe, UK, Japan, N America. Do a search for Hurtigruten on the boards and you'll turn up lots of threads- particularly in the Europe board. I'm looking forward to my next cruise with them.
