aynt79 Posted March 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2009 I usually like to find souvenirs from my trips that are a little different than the normal t-shirt/trinket stuff. I've read about the wood carvings outside of the straw market in Nassau. What size wood carvings are there (I need to be able to fit in my suitcase and fly with it) and what are the prices like? Do they expect you to haggle like in the market? Thanks!
melana Posted March 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2009 I was just at the straw market earlier in Feb and yes they have woodcarvings of any size, shape and price. Yes you can haggle..I purchased a woodcarved ashtray for 8 bucks. Could have probably gotten it cheaper but I was pleased with it. Just be aware that some of the people can be a little pushy with wanting you to buy things..I learned that a firm "no,thank you" worked in getting some to leave you alone...
