jknezek Posted November 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2004 This is my first MSC cruise. I've done several Princess, RC and even a Carnival Cruise but was looking for something new. Anyone know the ages I can expect to find on this cruise? I don't know much about MSC except that my travel agent said he had heard wonderful things about the food and service. crusguy Posted November 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2004 I don't think anyone can give you a realistic answer until they get back from her first cruise on Dec.11. We are all looking forward to that.
Downdie Posted November 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2004 Hi crusguy: Some of us can give Jknezek some answers. MSC Opera doesn't just sail from Ft. Lauderdale. It's been sailing out of Genoa, Italy since July. Here are some reviews, one professional, two amateurs: http://www.cruisemates.com/articles/feature/MSC.cfm http://messages.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=92835 http://messages.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=63276
czechmate Posted November 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2004 Hi Downdie I was interested to read the professional review. The first I have seen. Thank you for that. As we both know Anne Walker is not completely accurate though which is unfortunate. This will be the inaugral season for the newly built Opera BUT MSC have been cruising in the caribbean for some years with a passenger base split roughly 50/50 between American/Canadian and European. This year I was on Lirica in her inaugral caribbean season and prior to that it was Melody. Reading her review I wonder has she been given information that it is the intention and policy of Sasso to rid himself of the european passengers totally.
