Getting from Hilton Village to Diamond Head??

We arent planning to rent a car and want to hike Diamond Head the morning we board our cruise ship. What is the best method of transportation? Does city bus run there?

My plan is to try to take the bus. Looks like it will drop you off fairly close, but not quite as close as if you drove and parked in the lot. So what's an extra quarter mile? Though I'm a first timer myself and would defer to others with experience.
