awsmpa Posted July 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2009 On Infinity 14 day November 22, 2009. We are going to drive to San Diego but wonder if there are free or inexpensive and safe port parking options. If not, we will rent a one-way rental which is pretty expensive from Bakersfield, CA. Is there a website for Port parking?

Is there a website for Port parking? My parents often cruise out of San Diego. They stay in a hotel (unfortunately I do not know the name) that allows them to park for free or a nominal fee because they stay there. I did a quick search and came up with this site that has some info. You will have to contact the hotels to see exactly what their deal is. http://www.sandiego.org/article/Visitors/
Cruise Arizona Posted July 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2009 I have parked at the off site air port parking. They have vans that will take you to the cruise port, not just the air port. I can't remember which one I used before, but you can just type in "San Diego Park and Fly" to a search engine and several come up. Then you can find one that also serves the cruise port, though I think that they almost all do. Besure to review things like security and where your car will be parked, ect, but it is a less expensive way to go than the cruise terminal parking. Embarkation was pretty painless, but I do remember having to wait for quite some time for the van to pick us up when we disembarked. It wasn't horrible, and probably not much worse than other options, but we did have to wait.

takemewithyou Posted July 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2009 We have stayed at the Holiday Inn which was directly across the street from the cruise terminal, but parking the car was not cheap. It was $15/per day. It was very convenient to be able to just walk across the street when we disembarked with our luggage and not have to call a shuttle or take a taxi to our car. Parking in San Diego is not inexpensive. It was convenient, as I said. That was worth something, I guess. :o
Loganeski Posted July 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 16, 2009 We have stayed in the Best Western 7 Seas at Hotelcircle. Rooms are rather small, but clean. You can book a package incl. transportation to the port and free parking during your cruise.
L.J. Posted July 16, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2009 We recently used Park and Go for a 14-day land/cruise vacation. It was inexpensive with the coupon and was in a good location for airport and cruise terminal. It is at the end of the airport runway so sensitive car alarms go off frequently! They have vans that service the airport and cruise terminal separately. http://www.longtermparking.com/COUPONS/cpparkandgosan.htm
Yumagal Posted July 16, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2009 Hi AWSMPA, We on the same cruise as you and we also are driving to San Diego. We fly out of there often and have found that any of the off site airport parking lots also go the the cruise ship pier. They all charge around $8 per day. If it's more than that, shop around. awsmpa Posted July 19, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted July 19, 2009 Thanks to everyone. Helped me do a lot of research and I found a one-way car rental from Bakersfield to San Diego for $48. Much cheaper than long-term parking. Having a little trouble on the return from LAX to Bakersfield, but we have a local Airport Bus for about $32 pp. and will do that if no rental comes up. Karen, I've seen your posts on our Roll Call. Hope we get the 25 for the Connections party. I feel like a kid getting ready for their first trip to Disneyland.
