SD to Hawaii - how's the sea?

We are considering at cruise next year to Hawaii out of San Diego that has 4 days at sea either way -

am concerned about rolling waves and sea sickness... should we be?

Only other cruise experience was on RCL Grandeur from Tampa - San Juan , St. Maarten, St kitts, antigua, tortola with two days at sea either way - no seasickness, no rolling ship - was told this was because the ship wasn't really on open seas but rather tucked in between all those islands...

is that so? would it be more open and more rolling waves en route to Hawaii?

thanks!
